What this area studies
Researchers here look at sleep and the body clock.
Almost everything in the body runs on a daily cycle. Researchers want to know what sets it.
Compounds we hold a record for
Emideltide (DSIP)
F Turned down
Nine links long, first pulled out of sleeping rabbits in 1977. DSIP is the common name; Emideltide is the formal one the FDA uses. Same substance.
Epitalon
S Recommended, widest margin
Studied for its effect on the pineal gland, the part of the brain that makes melatonin.
Appearing here means the name turns up in this field of study. It does not mean the compound does anything.
How strong is the evidence?

This is one of the thinner areas on the site. Nearly all of it is animal work. The human trials that do exist disagree with each other, and one double-blind study of DSIP in poor sleepers found no real benefit at all.

We link what we read. Where a source found nothing, we link that too — a page that only cites the positive results is not a source list, it is an advert.
